What do I believe?

Photography gets to the truth of an event, a place, or a person, not purely by capturing its outward face. The medium is best when it goes beyond the objective and into the truth of feeling, the emotional aesthetic of nostalgia and sentimentality that should be imbued in every photograph.

My Journey

Hi! I am Lauren, and I received my first camera when I was 15 years old. While at first, I was taking photos purely for the fun of it, upon buying my first 35mm format camera I realized photography is my passion. Memory is our most precious resource, and that extends to our cultural memory of the past, the loving memory we keep of the present, and in our preparing of memories for the future.

Along with being a photographer, I am also a trained archaeologist who studied Southwest Indigenous Archaeology in Cortez, CO, before serving as an Archaeological Technician AmeriCorps for the Monongahela National Forest. Right now, I am based in Morgantown, WV, taking care of my cat Treadmill and working at a local bookstore.
